I started working for the Solar Urja through Localization for Sustainability (SoULS)   project in  the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay,  from February 2017.

I work as a Project Assistant  and part of the Communications Team. My work is about being a   Photographer, Videographer, Videoeditor and Animator as required.

Sometimes my job involved editing videos filmed by another team member. Sometimes, I shoot and edit my own videos, which is what happens mostly when I am assigned a filed trip, anywhere in India.

SoULS, a flagship program of IIT Bombay, is all about creating active interventions in order to bring clean, efficient, affordable, and reliable energy access , to the last mile households.  One of the things we do is introduce simple photovoltaic circuitry based lamps to school students in villages and women in households, particularly in rural India , where the electric supply is erratic. The women are taught the basics of the lamp circuit manufacture, enabling its onsite maintenance.

The videos below will give you an idea how they have affected the lives of rural India.

The first 10 videos were shot by various Communications team members / colleagues, and edited by me.

The last 2 videos, regarding Netarhat , and Enterprise Development Training were shot by me and edited by  me.

The following 2 videos were shot by me, and edited by me , during a field trip to Netarhat, Jharkhand.

SoULS conducted a research workshop from 29th June – 2nd July 2018 in the peaceful backdrop of Netarhaat, Jharkhand. The objective of the workshop was to exchange ideas and brainstorm on the possible deliverables through research and documentation, and how effectively the SoULS can be used as a platform to contribute significantly in the existing academic knowledge. During this workshop, the focus was on creating a pathway for the replication of renewable energy interventions through devising proper research and documentation methodologies. The workshop was attended by Kelsey Werner & Prof. Praveen Kumar from Boston College of Social Work while from the SoULS team Prof. Jayendran Venkateswaran and Prof. Chetan Singh Solanki lead the workshop with the research and documentation team from SoULS participating in it.

On my way back  from Netarhat, I was assigned to cover /shoot the Enterprise Development Training Workshop  at Ranchi .

Enterprise Development training intends to provide skill sets necessary for Repair & Maintenance Technicians to become successful solar entrepreneurs. These skill sets include: Finance, Operation, Sales and Marketing.
